Olive Oil Cleanser - A Marvelous Use Of This Wondrous Quran Food

This excellent beauty tip was provided and practised by sister Norzaini Amin, a strong advocate of Prophetic Medicine and the administrator of Quranic Sunnah Medicine Ladies Group, a closed group on Facebook.

How Do I Use Olive Oil As A Cleanser?

Pour a few drops of certified organic cold pressed olive oil
(one of the best olive oils in the world under this category is the Laleli Olive Oil, grown and manufactured by a Muslim, Dr. Yahya Laleli) in one hand and with the tips of the fingers of the other, apply it on the face using an upward circular motion. This is to increase the blood circulation as well as aid the opening of pores. Olive oil possesses a natural compound that is unbelievably effective in dissolving the impurities on your skin so do take the time to massage slowly and gently.

Dip a washcloth into hot water, squeeze and place it on your face to further open up the pores. Leave it on for ten minutes. When the washcloth starts to get cold, dip in hot water again and repeat the process. Wipe of excess oil.

Alternatively, pour hot water into a basin and put your face over it for a couple of minutes. Cover your head with a towel to keep the steam in. Do this very cautiously. Use a washcloth to wipe off the excess olive oil from your face.

Why Should I Use Olive Oil On My Face?
Many skin cleansers on the market today contain chemicals, synthetic or artificially made and sometimes even toxic ingredients. These do little good to your skin and may even damage your skin further in the long term. Besides, most lotions and moisturisers contain largely of water, which is only temporary in making the skin appear supple.

Olive oil on the other hand is 100% natural and doesn't contain any chemicals. In fact, olive oil is full of vitamins and antioxidants that protect, rejuvenate and repair damaged skin cells. Being rich in vitamin E which is an antioxidant, olive oil is extremely beneficial for the cells of the body. It prevents damage to cells by neutralising free radicals which damage the connective fibres which make the skin firm and supple.

It is no wonder why our beloved Prophet SAW prophesised the use of olive oil on our skin (the whole body plus hair) and it is found that the oil from the blessed tree also protects the skin from harmful ultraviolet rays (UV).

Olive oil also increases the "communication" between the cells via the connective tissues so that waste products are easily discharged, allowing nutrients to reach these cells more efficiently. Besides wrinkles, signs of aging like pigmentation, brown and liver spots, skin tags etc. are avoided with regular use of this magical oil.

This means that this Quran food, the certified organic cold pressed olive oil, not only prevents but also reverses the aging process. Not only wrinkles on your face will disappear but your skin will appear radiant, healthy and flawless over time with daily use.

Our bodies do not manufacture vitamin E naturally thus we need to get the source from our diets. Olive oil is in the top three foods that is rich in vitamin E. Sunflower seeds and almonds are the other two. One may think, "Well, I purchased this beauty cream and it is said to contain vitamin E so why should I use olive oil?". The answer to that is simple; many beauty products contain synthetic vitamin E. In it's natural form, it is actually made up of eight different compounds, while the artificial version only has one. A good rule of thumb is, "If you can eat it you can put it on your face." The oil will be absorbed by the body so would you want to use something that is toxic?

However, this is not always the case. Some beauty products do contain real olive oil but they are usually expensive.

Why Use Certified Organic Olive Oil?
Now, when you are about to start using olive oil on your skin and face you need to be aware that not all olive oils are the same. These are some of the categories of olive oil:
  1. Certified Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil - This oil is from the first pressing and it usually contains the most antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients. The pressing is done without heat (cold pressed).
  2. Virgin Olive Oil - This oil comes from the second pressing and still contains some nutrients and antioxidants but less than Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
  3. Pure Olive Oil - This is olive oil that has been extracted by some type processing, either heat or chemicals. This oil contains less vitamins and nutrients than Virgin Olive Oil.
  4. Extra Light Olive Oil - This olive oil undergoes a lot of processing and not much vitamins and nutrients are left.

Please note that many skincare products may contain oils, but these could be mineral oil which is not fully absorbed by the skin or refined vegetable oil which can oxidise the cells and damage them.
